PG&E electric utility hookup was huge hassle, but hey, electric hot tubs are cool. 7kw heater & jets power at the flip of a timer - ahhh.
All solar power for 100% off-grid operation is great for when the power does go down. Engineering for PG&E and took 4 years; includes a $150K 450 kva primary distirbution line upgrade with multiple transformers and improvement of service to 5 neighboring properties.

5.9 wooded acres, blue water view, 850 ft above and 2 mile south east of Waddell Creek beach, California.
Waddell Beach is the end of "Skyline Tail to the Sea", a popular windsurfing/kiting beach on the coast and adjacent Big Basin Redwood State Park and timber preserves. There are ~30 home sites along Last Chance road, 5 to 500 acres; hiking, biking, windsurfing, kiting, surfing, horse-back riding country. Excellent 300', 200gpm well. Custom home plan, full seismic engineered. 11 kw indepenedent power system design, ~ 5 KW Solar PV. DSL broadband, 1000 ft to remote terminal (copper to optic backbone), & two phones (phone service was a callenge, much less DSL). All California Coastal and Santa Cruz County Build (State Level 4) permits issued and approved, with John running the gamut of red tape. A major haul, but worth it ....
Blue water views from the entire house. Ocean vista all the way to the lights of Monterey. Immediate neighbor is Big Creek Ranch, 500 acres of cattle and timber.
